Why Golf Fitness Matters

Golf isn’t just a skill sport—it’s an athletic one. If you're serious about improving your performance and staying injury-free, your time on the course needs to be backed up by smart work off it.

Whether you're chasing more clubhead speed, struggling with back pain, or just want to play pain-free for years to come, a well-structured golf-specific strength and mobility programme can make all the difference.

What Makes My Approach Different

I’m not just a personal trainer who plays golf. My entire approach is built around golf performance.

  • Scotland’s Only TPI Level 3 Fitness Professional
I’m proud to be the first and only coach in Scotland - and one of only a handful across the UK – to hold the highest level of Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) fitness certification. This means I’ve trained with the same methods used to improve the world’s best players.

I’m fortunate to have completed my training at TPI HQ in San Diego, learning directly from Dr Greg Rose, Jason Glass, Lance Gill and Janet Alexander.

  • Movement + Swing Integration
Every programme starts with a full TPI movement screen, identifying physical limitations that could be holding back your swing.

  • Strength, Power & Longevity
I combine cutting-edge sports science with golf-specific conditioning to build rotational speed, functional strength, and resilience.

  • Objective Tracking
Using 3D body scanning and performance metrics, we measure progress clearly — no guesswork.

How It Works

  1. Initial Movement Screen
Using TPI protocols and functional strength assessments, I’ll identify any physical limitations that may be holding you back—from mobility restrictions to asymmetries or power leaks.

  2. Personalised Programme Design
Your programme is built around your screen results, golfing goals, and training history. Every plan includes progressive strength, mobility, and power development—tailored to your schedule.

  3. 1:1 Coaching & Feedback
All sessions are delivered in our private, client-only gym in East Lothian. You’ll receive hands-on coaching, constant feedback, and ongoing tweaks as you improve.

  4. Data-Driven Progress
I use regular performance testing, body scans, and app-based progress tracking to ensure you’re getting stronger, faster, and more resilient—without guesswork.

Who It's For

  • Recreational golfers who want to increase distance and consistency

  • Players dealing with persistent niggles, injuries, or movement restrictions

  • Competitive amateurs looking for a physical edge

  • Juniors and beginners who want to build a strong foundation from the start

Golf is for life—but only if your body can keep up.

This includes enhancing your flexibility, core strength, balance, rotational power, and endurance to optimise your swing mechanics, prevent injuries, and improve consistency on the course. Regular personal training may focus more broadly on general fitness or aesthetic goals.

  • Not at all! Golf fitness is for golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. Whether you're looking to improve your drive distance, recover from an injury, or simply enjoy pain-free rounds, golf fitness training can be tailored to your needs and goals.

  • Yes! Golf fitness programs are designed to enhance your rotational power, stability, and coordination—all of which contribute to a stronger, more accurate swing. By addressing any physical limitations, you'll be able to generate more clubhead speed and control for better performance on the course.

  • I use a combination of functional fitness equipment and golf-specific tools, such as resistance bands, medicine balls, cable machines, and balance trainers. ‘Traditional’ strength equipment, like barbells and dumbbells also have a place. Exercises often mimic golf movements to develop strength and stability in the exact muscles and motions used during your swing.
