LHF Founder and Master Trainer – Alasdair Langlands

Langlands Health & Fitness are a mobile personal training and physiotherapy company based in sunny East Lothian. We cover the whole of the county, as well as most of Edinburgh. We believe that given the right motivation and an individually tailored psychological as well as physical coaching approach, people are more than capable of achieving and then exceeding their own expectations in terms of fitness. Our aim, and our skill comes in drawing from that inner strength and helping each client tap into their own well of determination in order to reach that point.

Our Team

Alasdair Langlands – Master Trainer

Having worked in both the education sector and the outdoor industry in the past, I have always had an intense fascination with fitness and well being. I played rugby at a high level, before moving on to partake in a plethora of other sports, from surfing to tennis to triathlon to endurance biking and lately to adventure racing. However, I can well understand the struggle to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle while juggling stressful work commitments – I myself found that extremely challenging during my time as a teacher.

I previously owned and ran a local cycle tour company and indeed it was the enjoyment of leading that healthier, more active lifestyle again, combined with my passion for helping people which lead to my decision to qualify as a Master Trainer with the European Institute of Fitness, at Lilleshall National Centre for Sports Excellence. Also, having grown up in a very medical family (both my parents are doctors) I am only too aware of the danger poor lifestyle choices can result in – prevention is definitely better than cure! Ultimately, regular exercise and better nutrition can literally be life-changing and by providing the right support, at the right time, in the right way, we can help you make that change too.

Gemma Langlands – Physiotherapist

Gemma is an extremely experienced physiotherapist, having previously worked for the NHS in a multitude of different roles for over 8 years. She is also a keen sportswoman (having tackled the Prague Marathon and joined me surfing and in a number of triathlons) and has represented Scotland at age group level for hockey in the past.

Her professional passion lies within sports injury rehab and musculoskeletal therapy, and she has built up an extensive network of fellow practitioners in this field over the years. She currently conducts clinics for FASIC (Edinburgh University’s Fitness and Sports Injury Clinic) both in East Lothian and Edinburgh and works with both youth and elite level athletes in this capacity. She works with Judo Scotland (treating the national development squads), the Scottish Rugby Union (both in terms of age-group representative teams and the national women’s team) and the Scottish Football Association (conducting weekly clinics for referees). She was also for a time the physio for the Scotland U-21 Ladies Hockey Team, worked at the World Cross Country Championships when it visited Edinburgh and has been the team physio for a number of local rugby clubs, including Edinburgh Accies and Haddington.
